1. CMA-Congress in Lienz

1st International Congress

The First International Congress “Innovative Winter Service – Reducing Particulates” was held from 30 September to 1 October 2010 in Lienz, Tyrol /Austria.
150 participants from nine European countries participated.
The congress provided the opportunity to present important results from various areas. Apart from the 14 speakers who shared their expertise, different products were presented by the 10 exhibitors. Further experience could be exchanged and insight into the practical application could be gained at workshops held on three locations in Lienz.
Encouraged by the results presented at the congress, CMA is being tried on a test track in London starting in October this year.
Also this year, the test tracks in Klagenfurt, Lienz and Bruneck/Brunico are being extended. In Klagenfurt the test tracks will be extended from 4 to 12 km.
The results obtained by Graz University of Technology have confirmed that the application of CMA does not reduce the skid resistance of the roadway and that there is no negative impact on traffic safety.
As a further step it is planned to involve the population, too. In Klagenfurt und Bruneck/Brunico 5-litre jerry cans of CMA will be distributed to residents free of charge. The advantage of this liquid deicing agent is that it environmentally friendly, easily biodegradable and non-corrosive.
The next international congress in the context of the EU Project CMA+ will be held in Bruneck/Brunico from 24 to 25 November, 2011.
